This Sunday we have seen a film with my friend. He also loves horses so we choosed one with a title: The Colt. It had a tremendous effect for me.
The film takes during the American Cilvil War. A patrol of horseback soliders are fighting in the forests when Jim's (the young hero of the film) horse has given birth to a colt. The superior officer orders Jum to shoot the foal because it may become a burden, but Jim couldn't kill that cute earthling. Despite the fact that it caused many difficulties, the little foal was going with them in the fights ( on his second day of life). Once, the foal run away because of the voice of guns and Jim had to save him, so they lost the group for days.
I think everyone can imagine that situation, when that men had bloody fights in deep forests for months and see their close mates losing their lives. This little foal symbolised the hope, that led the men through that many bitterness.
At the end Jim has been shooted, while saving the foal out of the river. So it has a depressing end. It spite of this, I really like it, because it’s about deep solidarity, and the power of a little animal.
